While other spikers mainly use their shoulders and arms to change the direction of their shots, he utilizes his strong core to use his entire upper body, creating a range of hitting points that blockers cannot easily handle. (At the moment of impact, he can shift by as much as a full torso's width, making it impossible for a single blocker to keep up.) Furthermore, because he uses his whole torso as a pivot, the power of his spikes doesn't drop even when he changes direction instantaneously.
