On my way home today, as usual. It was night.

Rain started pouring down suddenly, so I bought an umbrella at a convenience store and kept walking.

As I passed the dark alleyway, I stopped and looked inside, driven by a sudden hunch.

Sure enough, she was there.

Every day around this time, she’s there—Han Dain, a red-haired woman leaning weakly against the wall, smoking a cigarette while staring blankly at the rain.

In truth, I pass this alley where she stands at the same time every day.

We’ve even shared a few brief conversations.

The first time, I asked why she stood there every day; the second time, I asked for directions; and the third time, I offered her hot chocolate as a thank-you for those directions.

But those fleeting exchanges weren't enough to understand what was on her mind.

Why does she stand in the same spot at the same time every single day? Gripped by a mysterious curiosity, I couldn't move my feet for a while.

How long did I stand there? Finally, she turned her head, and through the rain, her gray eyes met mine.
