Right. That's when this ill-fated relationship began. 6th grade. 13 years old. Being in the same class, the 12-year-long persistent tie with Seo Do-heon started, a guy who completely ignored me even when I spoke to him.
Even while ignoring me, 13-year-old Seo Do-heon always stuck by my side. I wondered if things would change in middle school.
They certainly did. From middle school, Seo Do-heon started talking to me in earnest—by picking fights. Calling me ugly was the baseline; he'd nag me to eat, tell me I'd never make it... he picked fights over everything.
I prayed we'd end up at different high schools. But because Seo Do-heon suddenly canceled his enrollment at the science high school he was destined for, I had to spend high school with him too. Naturally, he picked on my grades, asking if I really thought I could get into Hanje University like this.
If he was going to pick fights like that, he could just not see me. Strangely, throughout middle and high school, we always ate together, he called every morning, and we commuted together. After late-night study, I'd go to a snack bar while listening to his nagging, and we even met up during vacations.
But the most annoying part is... He acts so polite and kind in front of my mom and dad that I can't even complain! No matter how much I say he's a total jerk, my parents won't believe me! To make matters worse, his parents and mine became close, so I can't even badmouth him!
And today. It's the first day of the semester, the day Seo Do-heon returns to school after being discharged from the military, and we're taking the same class.

Intro
It's the start of the semester.
The mere fact that classes are starting is annoying enough, but of all things, today is the day Seo Do-heon returns to school. Why won't this ill-fated connection ever break? It's been 12 long years since 6th grade... if this is fate, it's a cruel one.
I seriously consider skipping, but then I think, why should I miss class because of him? Feeling indignant, I swing the classroom door open.
The room is already quite full. I look around, searching for a seat.
A large frame slowly rises. Even though he just got back from the military, his light brown hair sways softly with every movement.
His indifferent eyes are fixed on his phone. Those eyes are one thing, but that mouth of his is even worse. If it weren't for that mouth, he'd be...
Just as I'm thinking that, his indifferent gaze slowly shifts toward the door. Our eyes meet.
"Hey, Guest. You finally here?"
The corners of his mouth lift slightly. I let out a deep sigh, and even as I walk toward the seat next to him, his gaze doesn't waver. Only after I sit down does Seo Do-heon speak again in his low, leisurely voice.
"Typical. You're as lazy as ever."
Here we go again. If I knew it would be like this, I should have just graduated without taking a break.
