About

About the Prefect (Guest) Occasionally, they have "mysterious dreams" with content that somehow links to reality. These "dreams" often unfold with an effect like being sucked into the mirror in their room, but they sometimes see "dreams" in completely different places. The details of why they have such dreams are unknown. In Chapter 5, they realize that the Great Seven appeared in those dreams. However, according to the Prefect, they gave a "different impression from the legends."

They also have dreams different from the ones with the Great Seven, where a mirror glows and someone speaks to them. In Chapter 2, they see a shadow; in Chapter 3, a clear figure; and in Chapter 4, they have a conversation. At that time, they asked the other person's name, and he identified himself as Mickey.

However, once when they thought they stepped on Grim's tail in that dream, Grim complained to them the next morning. It seems the "dreams" are not just dreams.

In Chapter 5, when they consulted Ace and Deuce about these dreams, they received advice that since they see the statues of the Great Seven every day, it's not strange for them to appear in dreams, and if Mickey isn't a dream, they might find something out by taking a photo with the Ghost Camera. Incidentally, the two didn't seem to recognize the name Mickey. Later, when they met Mickey again, they could even see his form. At this time, Mickey told them, "I feel like this dream isn't just a dream."

In the latter half of Chapter 5, seeing Vil with a troubled expression (according to Kalim), a scene from a dream flashed back. Sensing a bad omen, they were the first to notice Vil's rampage. It seems dream and reality are gradually influencing each other. Furthermore, at the end, on the night the VDC ended, they reunited with Mickey. Mickey revealed that he tried various things to meet the Prefect but it's impossible to dream on purpose, and he doesn't know how to meet, but the time they can talk has increased and only about a single pane of glass separates them. They succeeded in taking a photo with the Ghost Camera, but in the middle of the conversation, they realized Grim had disappeared from the dorm. At that moment, the image of the black carriage coming to the school and the mysterious monster from the tutorial flashed through their mind...?

In Chapter 6, despite having no memory after being attacked by Grim at the VDC venue, a mysterious phenomenon occurred where they were back in their room before they knew it. It wasn't that someone found and brought them (they had an injury on their arm, and if someone were kind enough to carry them, they should have treated the wound), leaving the mystery of how they got there.

Furthermore, at the end, they talk to Mickey again, but it's discovered that they cannot see anything other than each other's forms, and Grim can neither see Mickey nor hear his voice, nor can Mickey recognize Grim.

In Chapter 7, they told Jack, Epel, and Ortho about Mickey's existence and showed them the photo. Ortho suggested that the mirror in the Ramshackle Dorm might accidentally meet the conditions to connect to the world where Mickey is, and that if they solve that mystery, they might find a way to return to their original world, leading to an investigation.

Then, in Chapter 3, they finally entered Mickey's dream and met him directly. However, many mysteries were born here as well.

First, the room in Mickey's dream closely resembled the room in the Ramshackle Dorm, and for some reason, they couldn't leave the room. Additionally, the circumstance of coming to this room was due to being put to sleep by Malleus's Unique Magic, but even though Malleus's magic is supposed to trap the target in their own dream, the Prefect and Grim were sent to the dream of an existence Malleus doesn't even know. Furthermore, unlike others, they haven't undergone the alteration of recognition or memory by Malleus. The only other person who hasn't been affected by Malleus's magic from the start is Silver, who has a Unique Magic related to "dreams," and it's unknown why the magicless Prefect escaped Malleus's Unique Magic.

Moreover, when Mickey woke up in reality and the dream began to collapse, just as the Prefect was cornered, Silver—who has a Unique Magic to travel through dreams—came to the rescue, a development almost too convenient for the Prefect. Silver's Unique Magic allows him to go to the dreams of those he has a connection with, and the deeper the connection, the higher the chance of crossing (in fact, the places he went after this were all people he is very close to, like Sebek and Lilia), but the relationship between the Prefect and Silver in the story is such that while they know each other, there are almost no depictions of them speaking directly. Furthermore, the dream they were in was Mickey's dream, not the Prefect's or Grim's, and Silver's connection to Mickey was only to the extent that he had seen him once in a dream for some reason (Silver himself wondered why he could meet Mickey, since he can only go to the dreams of those he has some connection with).

Moreover, at this time, everyone on Sage's Island was put to sleep by Malleus, so there were countless dreams Silver could have crossed into. Among them, arriving pinpoint at the Prefect's location—someone he has a thin connection with—on his first dream-cross is beyond the level of just being lucky. Furthermore, Silver said, "I followed a mysterious bird emitting rainbow light in the dream and reached that room," making it look as if someone had engineered it so he would head toward the Prefect.

This is after everything has ended.

Characters

Malleus

Malleus Draconia

Grade: 3rd Year, Class D, No. 6 Birthday: January 18th (Capricorn) Age: 178 years old* Height: 202cm (including horns) First person: I (僕 - soft, polite) Personality Dominant hand: Right Homeland: Valley of Thorns Club: Gargoyle Research Society Best subject: Defensive Magic Hobby: Visiting ruins Dislikes: Operating machines Favorite food: Shaved ice / Ice cream Hated food: Whole cakes Talent: String instruments

Appearance Black hair that is long only at the nape, and sharp lime-green eyes.

His hairstyle looks short at first glance, but it's actually a wolf cut with a long nape, often draped from his shoulder to his collarbone.

Compared to Leona or Vil, he has a somewhat more refined, "salt-faced" look, and according to Sebek, he is a "handsome man of the century."

A pair of black horns grows from his head (according to Riddle, there is only one student in this school with horns), and being of the fae race, his ears are slightly more pointed than a human's. Therefore, his hooded ceremonial robes are custom-made with holes for his horns.

His fangs are also slightly pointed.

There is a shell-like part in the area hidden by his bangs.

But... now, due to certain circumstances, his right horn is half-broken.

Race He is a dragon fae and can breathe fire. Also, based on his remark about "returning to my true form and swallowing (humans) in one gulp," it seems he has a form different from his usual appearance (the fae race is diverse, and small fairies apparently flee upon seeing him). According to Lilia, there was a time when "eggshells were still attached to his head," so could it be...? It is completely confirmed that he is oviparous.

His grandmother is a person of such skill that Malleus himself says he is "far from reaching her level." She is apparently his only blood relative and currently handles official duties in the Valley of Thorns alone. Partly due to his birthday (mentioned later), Malleus seems to respect his grandmother deeply.

In a certain Personal Story, it's hinted that he doesn't know his own parents well...?

Nicknames The Prefect calls him "Tsunotaro" (named by Grim). This is because when the Prefect asked for his name during their first meeting, he didn't introduce himself, saying they would regret hearing it (he used a phrasing like "if you won't regret it" when the nickname was given). The Prefect didn't watch the Magift Tournament main matches due to an unfortunate accident, and due to repeated misunderstandings after that, they didn't know Malleus = Tsunotaro.

Rook calls him "Roi du Dragon" (Dragon King), Floyd calls him "Sea Slug Senpai," and Leona, who calls others by animal names, calls him a "Lizard Bastard."

Vassals like Sebek call him "Young Master."

He is a gentleman with many names.

Incidentally, he generally calls people outside his inner circle or vassals by their family names (he adds "Little" to Ortho's name to distinguish him from his classmate). Exceptionally, he calls the Prefect "Child of Man / Human Child" (or by their first name).

Details A descendant of the dragon fae, with black horns on his head and pointed ears. He is the next king of the Valley of Thorns and left his country to enroll in school to broaden his horizons. When he was in the Valley of Thorns, he could rarely go out, and even stepping one foot out of the castle required guards (this treatment seems influenced by the existence of the Elder Council). Given his status, his birthday is a national holiday in his home country, and he apparently had a hard time being pulled into various ceremonies from morning till night on that day.

Also, one might expect him to be quite tyrannical given his status, but his first person is "Boku," and combined with his personality mentioned later, he possesses kindness and tolerance for royalty; however, his high magic power and aura make him an intimidating presence.

Since his enrollment, Diasomnia Dorm has had consecutive victories in the Magical Shift Tournament; he can float without a broom. He possesses unfathomable magic power, capable of deploying two types of magic simultaneously and instantaneously, disappearing and moving in an instant, making objects appear on the spot, and instantly fixing ruined land with the single command "Return to where you should be, to the form you should take." With the release of his profile upon implementation, it was revealed that he is not just school-top level but one of the world's leading magic users. Idia described his magic power as "like a cheat character with auto-MP regeneration," and Trey says he is one of the top five mages in the world.

Even without specific training, his natural physical abilities are high, enough to easily handle a large group of opponents. There was a depiction of him cracking a coconut with his bare hands. In "Master Chef" and "Vargas Camp Returns," it was proven that he truly has monstrous strength.

He also has a fixation on dragons, and his explanations for things he's fixated on are long and talkative (Kalim said, "He's like a fast-talking Idia." Idia himself didn't deny it). Incidentally, there is a dragon statue in his room in the dorm.

He generally doesn't care much about food, but he has shown a clear refusal toward Lilia's cooking, saying, "I never want to eat Lilia's cooking again."

While he is a person held in high regard for his abilities and appearance, at the same time, that causes other students to find him unapproachable (to the point where they believe they'll be cursed just by interacting with him), so someone who talks to him without hesitation is rare. Because of this, on his birthday, he was given congratulatory words from a distance. Perhaps because of that, his invitation is frequently forgotten for Housewarden meetings or entrance ceremonies (it seems he's sometimes forgotten for classroom changes too). He says he "doesn't mind," but Lilia frequently contradicts him.

He speaks in a haughty tone, but basically has a calm and composed atmosphere. He has the magnanimity to tolerate even behavior that makes Sebek indignant with perceived disrespect, including the person involved and Sebek (he might admonish them, but that's about it). He sometimes tells jokes (though they are mostly not taken as jokes) and shows a smile; he is gentle and friendly toward those without malice, even if they don't know him. However, it's said he often drops lightning when he gets angry.

Due to the misfortune of not being called to ceremonial occasions, he rarely wears ceremonial robes. Leona teased him about this, revealing a side of him that lacks resistance to provocation, as he ended up in a verbal spat while trying to feign composure. Seeing this, Ruggie was taken aback, saying, "He's got a surprisingly normal side, huh."

Being ignorant of the world, he often has a blank, surprised look or pouts occasionally, showing he is surprisingly expressive. In his Labwear Personal Story, it was discovered that he plays with a handheld game device called "Gao-Gao Dracone-kun," which seems like a Tamagotchi.

For someone who has lived many years, he seems to have a slightly childish (or pure, due to world-ignorance) side.

Due to the difference in their sense of time, Riddle has said of him, "He is a great mage, but somewhat loose with time."

He tends to call machines "modern contraptions"; he doesn't know how to use a computer, let alone the internet, and cannot repair machines that don't use magic. He had never even ridden in a car.

When it comes to machines or the internet, there are episodes where he was helped by Deuce or the Shroud brothers, who are strong in those areas. Incidentally, he gave Deuce a very large and rare ore as a reward.

Is his weakness with machines perhaps because of the theory that "fae (fairies) are weak to iron"?

Maybe because of that, when he used magic to restore a machine that broke due to various circumstances, only the data was blown away.

As a child, during Halloween in the Valley of Thorns, he was first appointed by the Queen to the role of lighting the wood-carved lanterns across the country with magic. He was so eager that it turned into a disaster where he burned not just the lanterns but houses and fields. That incident came to be called the "Halloween of Fire" and was carved into the country's history; while he feels bitter about it, Sebek was moved, saying, "It was a wonderful event that made the Young Master's power known to the citizens!" The scale is certainly large, but...

There are no shortage of fire-related episodes from his childhood, such as breathing fire and singeing Lilia's bangs, or accidentally breathing fire when trying to blow out birthday candles.
