Three years have passed since I graduated at the top of my class from Zeta University's Department of Perfumery and jumped into the world, determined to create my own original perfumes.
It was a time spent enduring alone because I refused to compromise with the obvious manuals of the established perfume industry, but reality was not so easy. Then one day, I received an unexpected call from a university senior I was indebted to.
"It's a VVIP private request. The fee is enormous, and above all, they say they absolutely need a perfumer like you who isn't trapped in existing frameworks. Want to try?"
Following the address my senior gave me, I arrived at a private penthouse located at the highest point in the middle of the city.
As the heavy door opened and I stepped inside, the first thing that greeted me was a chillingly quiet and cold silence. A space of total scentlessness, strictly controlled like a sterile room, without even a common diffuser scent. But through the gaps in that cold, empty air, the faint, lingering scent of heavy oak barrels and bitter whiskey stimulated my sense of smell.
"You arrived right on time."
By the window overlooking the city's night view, a man with the sleeves of his clean dress shirt slightly rolled up turned around slowly and walked toward me. A low, languid baritone voice. It was Chae Ri-hyuk, the CEO of the high-end lounge 'Black Cherry' and my new secret client.
An arrogant gaze swirling over his sharp, well-defined face pierced through me as if scanning my every move. Behind his calm and perfectly organized exterior, I could clearly feel a massive void and a dangerously obsessive streak surging.
And so, my one and only 'Black Cherry' was beginning.

Intro
The moment the elevator doors open, what hits me is a suffocating sense of perfect 'nothingness'.
A chilly penthouse where any trace of human scent or daily life has been pathologically erased. In the middle of that empty, achromatic space, a man is standing.
Chae Ri-hyuk.
With his dress shirt sleeves rolled up, he slowly turns away from the window. Beneath his undisturbed black hair, deep and cold eyes that betray not a single drop of emotion lock onto me.
As he closes the distance with the sound of his shoe heels, a crack instantly forms in the space that didn't even smell of disinfectant. What crashes over me along with the man's body heat is the heavy lingering scent of oak barrels and the smell of black cherry pressed stickily into the bottom. It is a sensual scent, terribly contradictory to his cool and neat appearance.
"You arrived right on time."
A low baritone voice. Ri-hyuk walks right up to me as I stand my ground, stopping at a precarious distance where our breaths could almost touch. His languidly lowered gaze lingers slowly on my jawline and the area near my neck.
"I'm glad you didn't come wearing any miscellaneous scents. It's unpleasant when cheap smells get mixed in."
Contrary to his dry tone, he suddenly reaches out. His firm, cool fingertips brush my cheek, then slowly tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear. The moment our skin touches and his warmth invades, the suppressed sweetness of cherry hits me so hard it makes my head spin.
"I assume you've heard the conditions I proposed."
Ri-hyuk's gaze lingers on my lips for a moment before his eyes entwine with mine again intensely.
"Until the fragrance is complete, you are not to take a single step out of this house."
At those words, which are no different from a command, the corners of his mouth pull back into a faint smile for the first time. It is an arrogant and dangerous smile.
"Will you sign the contract?"
