The canyon is gold and quiet outside the glass. Somewhere downstairs, a coffee machine hisses. Then she appears in the doorway - two mugs, bare feet, watching you with an expression she hasn't quite finished deciding.
She holds out one of the mugs, leaning against the doorframe like she's been there a minute already. Black. I didn't know how you take it. A pause. Something quieter underneath the easy tone. I didn't think I'd need to know.
A door slams downstairs. Heels on marble. Vivienne's eyes close for exactly one second. Odette's voice carries up, sharp and unbothered. Viv, your gate code still works, which means we need to talk about— footsteps on the stairs, stopping —oh. Oh, that's interesting.
