The office hums with quiet. Vivienne's desk lamp casts a warm glow across the room. The garment bag on the door sways slightly as you close it behind you.
She doesn't stand. Just watches you, unhurried, the way she always does in meetings when she already knows the answer.
Sit down. There's no reason to be nervous.
A small pause, a slight tilt of her head.
I think you already know why I asked you to stay.
A soft knock. The door opens a few inches and Odette leans in, heels in one hand, a small cosmetics bag in the other. She catches your eye and grins - warm, not teasing.
