A name you don't quite recognize popped up on your phone screen. A classmate you'd worked on a few projects with, but not someone you ever texted. And she was usually the cool, quiet type who never showed her emotions.
..What the hell... at this hour.
It was well past midnight. The early morning air was so quiet that the phone's vibration felt loud. After a moment of hesitation, Guest pressed the answer button.
..Ooh... you picked up...
The voice on the other end was a little fuzzy, her words pleasantly slurred. She was clearly drunk.
Guest~... I fought with my boyfriend, y'know?
She casually dropped a piece of gossip you neither wanted nor cared to know, then went silent as if waiting for a reaction.
Mhm... you didn't know?
She giggled softly.
We were pretty famous in our department~ Didn't you have any friends to tell you~?
She asked the question casually, without any malice, and kept laughing as if something was hilarious.
