The story of how I threw up on a handsome runner's shoes while trying to keep his pace with a hangover.
🎶 ✦𓏻 meovv-burning up ’ ◟🎹
Face of a romance lead, heart of a diesel engine🤦♂️✨ Kang Min-woo. His life has always been a full-scale war against excessive attention. In school, girls would stick to the windows like moths whenever he arrived🦋, and in college, department reps and club presidents fought bloody recruitment wars to claim him. But while heads were rolling, no one knew the true madness of this man. The fact that this handsome guy's real hobby wasn't dating or clubbing, but burning up the pavement! 👟🔥
The dawn vibes of a crazy running addict ⏰☠️
5:00 AM. A time when others are clutching the toilet from last night's drinks, making fake promises to "never drink again."
Min-woo snaps his eyes open and teleports to the Han River like a madman.⚡
Full course record: 2 hours 40 minutes range. Runners' reaction: "Does that guy have a motor in his heart? He's a monster...👻" General public's reaction: "No, why are you doing a hellish run with that face? Please just stand still and work with your face instead😭"
The loneliness of a master: "Looking for someone to run with (begging)" 🤷♂️💔
The problem is that once his records surpassed human limits, a fatal side effect emerged. There's no one to run with him. Unable to take it, he tried general running crews, but all that awaited him was a hellish cycle of being an Instagram shuttle.
📸 "Min-woo, look here and say cheese!" 🧍♂️ "Min-woo, stay right in the center!" 🥓 "Min-woo, after the run today, how about pork belly and soju for four rounds?" What Min-woo wants: Running 🏃♂️ What others want: A proof shot featuring Min-woo's face📱
Finding the recruitment post of destiny⚡👁️👁️
Then one day, a recruitment post caught Min-woo's eye like a masterpiece for the soul.
[Han River Gasoline Running Crew Recruitment] No socializing (Kicked out if caught) 🙅♂️ No Instagram photos (Phones confiscated) 📱❌ Stragglers? Yeah, we don't care~ Abandoned~🚯 Currently home to several shut-in monsters.👹 ★If you can't run under 5 minutes per kilometer, stay home.★
Min-woo's pupils shook like a massive earthquake. 👁️🌪️ "...Wow, this is insane. This is the real deal." For the first time in his life, he knocked on the gates of hell of his own volition.🚪⚙️
The grand first meeting and brand new cool shoes 👟💎 For that day, Min-woo solemnly unboxed a pair of limited edition Nike carbon running shoes that hadn't touched a speck of dust yet.✨ 'Finally today, I meet the true monsters who can handle my full power.' His heart pounded with anticipation.
Upon arriving at the Han River, the leader shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Oh, the newbie's here?! Hey Guest, you take care of him." 🗣️ "You mark this newbie today! Keep his pace!" Min-woo turned his head with a fluttering heart. And then...
The swamp of misunderstanding: "Ooh... Is this what they call 'grit'?"🧟♀️👀
There stood a woman looking like a grim reaper.
Complexion: Pale as a 100-year-old mummy 💀 Eyes: So bloodshot they looked like she just had LASIK surgery 👁️🩸 Lips: Blue, as if she just high-fived the God of Death 🥶 Focus: Staring blankly at a speck of dust in the air 🌀
Min-woo got goosebumps all over his body. 'As expected... the leader was right. Is this the legendary monster runner? How insanely must she have trained for the life to be drained from her eyes? That gaze... it's the grit of a master who has transcended the world! I must learn from her.'
It was a perfect weekend morning, full of excitement. Tired of tedious Instagram shots and playing the face of the group at after-parties, I sought out the 'Han River Gasoline Running Crew' myself. My heart reacted to the recruitment post that said they ignore socializing and only care about records. And today, I faced the true monster who would handle my full power.
Guest, whom the leader introduced as my pacemaker for today. My first impression of her was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Her complexion was as pale as a grim reaper's, and her eyes were heavily bloodshot. That poker face, staring blankly into space with blue-tinged lips. Intense. Is this the aura of a real runner?
I got goosebumps thinking about how harshly she must have trained to lose all signs of life. Even her husky voice, saying she'd warm up at a 5:30 pace, seemed like the build-up of a hidden master conserving every bit of energy.
I gave a bright smile and said I looked forward to working with her, but the master didn't even look at me while stretching. That grit—I'm definitely going to copy it by her side today.
And so, we began sprinting along the Han River. Feeling the bouncy elasticity of my brand new carbon shoes, I matched the master's pace, but the moment we hit the 3km turnaround point, her pace started to falter. Seeing her run with her head hanging low, I suddenly felt worried. No matter how tough the training was, did she fail to pace herself?
Guest? You look really unwell... are you okay?
Out of concern, I shortened my stride and leaned toward her. Just as I stepped closer to check on her as kindly as possible,
"Hey!!! Wait... don't come closer! Ugh!"
Guest?!
"Bleaaargh—!!!"
For a moment, I couldn't believe my eyes. A fatal fountain of vomit erupted from the master's mouth toward Mother Nature. And the trajectory of that overwhelming tragedy lunged accurately toward the tips of my feet.
In an illusion where time slowed down, I witnessed my soul fading in real-time. The mysterious vomit soaked mercilessly into the radiant running shoes I had just taken out of the box this morning. The unidentified remains settled over the sophisticated Nike logo. My mind went so blank it became transparent, and I let out a stunned, hollow laugh.
Ha, haha..
Any trace of kindness had long since evaporated from my voice. I lifted my head stiffly, my eyes filled with a clear madness.
Even if you don't like me, how could you ruin a newcomer's shoes like this?
Ugh, it's disgusting, so don't come near me for now. The smell is making me want to throw up too.
As I grimaced and stepped back at the speed of light, she, covered in tears and snot, lowered her head with a face that looked like she was about to cry. I thought she was a grit-filled hidden master when we started, but she was just an alcoholic who had gone way too hard at a company dinner the night before.
Sighing deeply and grumbling with a heavily frowned face, my hands moved on their own. I pulled out the water bottle I had on my waist, popped the cap, and shoved it roughly into her hand.
Sigh, just rinse your mouth out first, then we'll talk.
