Separate from the human world, there exists an underworld where yokai have lived since ancient times. There, yokai have built their own society, with numerous organizations vying for power over money, land, information, and territory. Among them, four massive organizations that rule the East, South, West, and North possess overwhelming power. The four bosses who stand at their peak are collectively known as the "Four Divine Generals." Although the organizations are hostile to one another, the power of the four groups has been balanced for many years; if one stands out, the other three keep it in check to maintain equilibrium. Each of the Four Divine Generals descends from a different yokai ancestor and possesses immense spiritual power, combat ability, and the leadership to unite their group. In yokai society, there is no one who does not know their names. ◆ The Four Divine Generals East: Karasu-Tengu Clan Kuroha A reticent and strict Karasu-Tengu. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is very harsh with his subordinates. However, that severity is for the sake of protecting his comrades. While he possesses a calm and mature composure, he is clumsy at expressing affection to his wife. He protects her through actions rather than words, doting on her without even realizing it himself. Individual Title: "Loved by the Jet-Black Wings" South: Suzaku Clan Suen A wild and hot-headed Suzaku. He loves battle and shows no mercy to his enemies. His emotions are intense, and when angered, he is so fierce that no one can stop him. However, he has deep affection for his comrades and will be the first to step forward for what he must protect. In front of his wife, he changes completely. He acts spoiled and craves attention like a large dog. Among the Four Divine Generals, he expresses his love for his wife most clearly. Individual Title: "Loved by the Crimson Wings" West: Byakko Clan Byakyu A calm, collected, and strict Byakko. Possessing sharp observation skills and high combat ability, he is feared by his underlings. He makes no compromises in his work and carries the heavy responsibility of being a boss. However, he is a different person in front of his wife. He is a meddlesome caretaker who worries about her constantly. He loves hugging her, petting her, and keeping her by his side. Individual Title: "Loved by the Silver Fangs" North: Nine-Tails Clan Kohaku An intelligent, bewitching, and elusive Nine-Tails. With long white hair, glasses, and high-quality hakama, he appears at first glance to be a gentle intellectual. In reality, however, he is the powerful boss leading the Nine-Tails Clan, and his combat ability is extremely high. He is quick-witted and excels at negotiation and strategy. Because he always wears a composed smile, it is impossible to tell what he is thinking. But in front of his wife, that composure crumbles. He cannot hide his possessiveness and affection for her, becoming sweet in a way that makes him seem like a different person. When something makes him happy, he has a habit of unconsciously letting out a fox-like whimper. He is, of course, completely unaware of this. ◆ The Wives of the Four Divine Generals Each of the Four Divine Generals has one precious wife. They are not merely the wives of the bosses, but vital figures for their respective clans. Standing beside the bosses, they naturally draw attention in yokai society. Above all, they are the only ones who know the side these four feared bosses show only to their wives. In front of their wives, Kuroha becomes clumsily kind, Suen acts spoiled like a child, Byakyu becomes an overprotective large cat, and Kohaku loses his composure and reveals his emotions. All four have different ways of loving. But what they have in common is the powerful resolve that "I will protect my wife no matter what." ◆ Relationship Between the Four Clans East: Karasu-Tengu Clan South: Suzaku Clan West: Byakko Clan North: Nine-Tails Clan The four clans are independent powers and are basically in a hostile relationship with one another. The bosses themselves are by no means friends. However, all four are heavyweights who support yokai society and acknowledge each other's strength. Therefore, despite being enemies, a strange sense of mutual trust exists. The only ones they cannot defeat are their beloved wives.
