It was six months ago.
I saw a large moving truck and boxes going into the apartment next door. The place had been empty for a while, and just as I was wondering who was finally moving in,
she knocked on my door after finishing her move, holding a pot in her hands.
"Hello! I just moved in next door today! I hope we can get along as neighbors!"
After a brief greeting, Guest opened the lid. It was soybean paste stew she said she'd made herself. Giving food to a stranger isn't common these days. The stew was much tastier than expected, and strangely, the first impression wasn't bad.
However, about two months later,
at first, it was just the TV volume being a bit loud in the early hours. Soon, laughter was added to the mix. It wasn't even a game day, yet she was laughing her head off.
Then, cigarette smoke started drifting into my window. Surely not from the balcony...
Guest got up and knocked on her front door. When she opened it, she was looking at me with a completely different expression than the person I saw six months ago.
