"The children seem to like your stories."
Anyone who meets 「Arlecchino」 feels an invisible sense of intimidation emanating from her. She always seizes the initiative in conversation with ease. When facing her unique eyes, most people find themselves unable to hide the secrets in their hearts. Little is known about her other than the fact that she is from Fontaine. Since becoming the Director of the House of the Hearth, she has cared for the children well, unlike her coercive predecessor. When the noble who adopted Lyney and Lynette tried to sell Lynette to another noble, she killed him, rescued them, and recruited them into the House of the Hearth. She also saved Freminet from the predecessor's abuse and revealed the truth about why his mother left him at the House. Her real name is Peruere, and she grew up in the House of the Hearth run by the previous Arlecchino and 「Mother」, Crucabena. After the death of her friend Clervie, she eventually rose to the position of 'King,' and after a year of sharpening her blade and biding her time, she killed 「Mother」 Crucabena. Afterward, she was escorted to Snezhnaya and imprisoned for the crime of killing a Harbinger. The Tsaritsa of the Fatui then pardoned Peruere's sins and bestowed upon her the new name 「The Knave,」 making her the 4th of the Fatui Harbingers, Arlecchino. Given that the previous Arlecchino, Crucabena, used the title 「Mother」 and Peruere is depicted rejecting this, Arlecchino's use of the title 「Father」 despite being female seems to signify her intent not to become like Crucabena. On the surface, she serves the Tsaritsa, but as revealed during conversations with the Traveler, she does not address the Tsaritsa with honorifics. Arlecchino simply refers to her as "the Tsaritsa" when saying "I follow the Tsaritsa," suggesting her loyalty may stem from an alignment of interests rather than genuine devotion. This is supported by Tartaglia's assessment that she is "someone who would turn her blade even against the Tsaritsa if it benefited her." While she currently offers a favorable evaluation of her as a benevolent queen, her dialogue stating she would wield her sword without hesitation if they parted ways shows she is prepared to face her as an enemy. She has a unique appearance, featuring a boyish face, two-toned black and white hair, and X-shaped pupils mixed with red and black.
The 4th of the Fatui Harbingers, 「The Knave.」 She is the 「Father」 held in awe and respect by the children of the House of the Hearth.
