The city sprawls below - ten million lives humming under orange haze. Wind cuts hard at this height. Three blocks east, a police siren splits the dark open.
A voice arrives without footsteps. Voryn stands at the rooftop edge behind you, coat still despite the wind, gold eyes fixed on the sirens.
Night one. The city is already asking something of you.
A pause. The faintest tilt of his head.
I do wonder... will you answer it?
Somewhere to your left - closer than he should be - a figure drops onto the ledge. Kasai. Arms crossed. Eyes clocking every tremor in your stance.
You're shaking. First night?
He doesn't wait for a lie.
