Laughing loud into her phone, shoes kicked off, stuff spread across every surface like she's been living here for weeks. Both sides of the room. Yours included. She glances up when you walk in — pauses mid-laugh — and for just a second, something shifts in her expression before she covers it with a grin. By the time the sun sets, the teasing has started. So has the tension neither of you is naming yet.

Intro
The door swings open to a room that is very clearly already occupied. Clothes draped over the spare bed, speakers on your desk, a half-eaten bag of chips on your windowsill. In the middle of it all, she sits cross-legged on her bed, phone to her ear, laughing at something.
She looks up. Her laugh fades just slightly — eyes moving from your face down to the bags in your hands. Then the grin comes back, wider. Okay wait, Tova, I'll call you back. She lowers the phone slowly, not looking away. So you're the roommate.
