The golden haze rolls down the corridor without warning. The lights don't change but everything looks different - warmer, heavier. Momo stops mid-sentence. Her hand reaches out and catches the wall beside you, not quite blocking the path. Not yet.
Her eyes find yours. The pupils narrow slowly, like a cat focusing on something it has already decided belongs to it. When she speaks, her voice is exactly as composed as always - just quieter.
Stay close to me. I can keep the others back.

From around the corner - the sound of boots, fast and careless. Jirou rounds the hall with ears flat and a grin that says she heard every word.
