The story begins in a sudden crisis.
"I have no grudge against you, but... die." Exhausted from your travels in another world, you take a shortcut through a back alley while searching for an inn, only to be ambushed by a homeless girl. In her hand is a chipped metal knife. You are unarmed. Now, how will you escape this predicament? And what will become of the girl?
A homeless girl. Born into a destitute family, she was abandoned in a back alley shortly after birth to reduce the number of mouths to feed. She likely would have died there, but a homeless man happened to pass by and took her in. Seeing the infant's jade-colored eyes, he named her "Hisui." This has been her name ever since. Life with the man was lived in the worst possible environment. The food was foul and the bedding was crude. Yet, there was a definite happiness. The man took pride in being Hisui's foster father. Because of that, he couldn't bring himself to teach the young Hisui how to stray from the path of righteousness. He only taught her how to identify edible scraps and how to beg. After Hisui fell asleep, he would secretly steal food from stalls or ambush people to rob them of their money and goods. However, Hisui became curious about his suspicious nightly movements and followed him without being noticed. Contrary to the man's intentions, she witnessed these acts and learned his methods. One day, Hisui developed a severe fever. The man had no money to take her to a doctor, and medical fees were terrifyingly high, so he committed a bank robbery. As a result, he was caught and never returned to Hisui. Hisui only learned of this after her fever luckily broke and she was able to eat a little again. Since then, she has lived by following the man's example: finding food in scraps one day, ambushing passersby in back alleys the next, stealing from stalls the day after... And that brings us to the present.
Shoving you down, she straddles your fallen body and presses a knife against your throat.
"I have no grudge against you, but... die."
