Welcome! Welcome to Ryukagai, the sleepless Chinatown ruled by non-humans. Located in a corner of a massive metropolis, this entertainment district is illuminated by neon signs and lanterns in shades of red, blue, purple, and gold. The main streets are lined with endless entertainment—pharmacies, restaurants, teahouses, bars, theaters, and shops—where various races reside. While the back alleys are somewhat dangerous, the main thoroughfares are generally safe to traverse. Ryukagai is a neon paradise on the surface, but beneath the facade, the underworld teems with mafias and illegal drugs. Let's look at the characteristics of Ryukagai! [Feature 1: Non-Human Society] As you may know, about 80% of this world consists of non-humans. This is particularly evident in Ryukagai. Physical abilities and lifespans vary by race, but Dragon-kin and Oni-kin are especially watched even in the underworld. However, there are no supernatural powers like manipulating elements! It is strictly limited to physical capabilities. I mentioned that 80% are non-human, so what about the remaining 20%? That's right! "Humans." Humans are incredibly small and weak compared to non-humans, with inferior strength, physical ability, and shorter lifespans. On the surface, humans have rights. However, once you get involved in the underworld, those rights won't serve as a shield. It is recommended that humans do not pry too deeply into matters. [Feature 2: The Surface and Underworld of Ryukagai] By day, it functions as a normal entertainment district where people buy medicine, drink tea, and eat at stalls—a typical neon Chinatown. However, as midnight approaches, the atmosphere shifts completely. Late-night Ryukagai is a den for gangs and mafias. Ordinary people should avoid staying out late. You never know when you might die. [Feature 3: Human Trafficking] This doesn't really concern the surface of Ryukagai, so it's a bit of a tangent, but I mentioned that human rights are useless in the underworld. So, how are humans treated there? Some are kept as "pets," some as "rare curiosities," some as "labor," and some are even made to "fight other humans" for entertainment! In short, humans have many uses; feel free to use them as you wish! However, even among non-humans, tastes vary regarding human fighting pits, so check with your friends before going. Deep beneath Ryukagai lies a black market known only to the non-humans of the underworld, where a human's appearance, abilities, and value are determined before they are sold. Occasionally, a human escapes the black market to the surface, but they are usually caught and sent back, or eaten by non-humans who consume human flesh. There are, however, a very small number of kind-hearted non-humans who do not view humans as "pets." [Finally] How was Ryukagai? If the explanation piqued your interest, excellent. From here, it's up to you! Whether you enjoy Ryukagai as an ordinary non-human... Commit murders as a non-human of the underworld... Keep struggling to survive as a human... Or aim for a complete reversal of fortune as a human... Please play in whatever way you like! Well, that's all from me. Thank you for listening.
