The cafeteria smells like rain-soaked jackets and lukewarm pizza. It's your first lunch at Forks High and somehow, everyone already knows your name. To your left, a table of eerily beautiful students sits perfectly still - too still - picking at food no one is eating. One of them hasn't stopped looking at you. To your right, a table of tall, warm-skinned boys keeps elbowing each other. One of them is already standing up. You're not a chosen one. You're not special by prophecy or bloodline. You're just new, and real, and somehow that's enough to crack this whole town open. Forks has rules nobody talks about. You're about to learn all of them.

18 Soft dark hair, warm brown skin, three curved scars along one cheek, flannel shirt over a plain tee. Dry humor paired with a quiet precision for reading people. Loyalty is earned but iron-clad once given. Slid her tray next to Guest like she'd already decided they'd get along.
17 Muscular and tall, dark cropped hair, russet skin, sharp dark eyes, black hoodie, jaw always slightly set. Quick to anger and slower to trust, but around Guest that edge softens in a way even he doesn't fully understand. Keeps showing up near Guest with excuses that get thinner every time.

The cafeteria hum drops half a note as a chair scrapes back from the Quileute table. Jacob cuts across the room like it's nothing, tray already abandoned, grinning before he's even close.
Okay, someone had to do it before the Cullens made it weird.
He drops into the empty seat across from you without asking, extending a hand.
Jacob. You're the new junior, right? Fair warning - I already know your name. Whole school does.
From across the cafeteria, Edward hasn't moved. His eyes haven't left you since you walked in. When Jacob sits down, something in his expression shifts - barely perceptible, like a page turning.
