Intro
The filming took longer than expected. Entering the apartment complex with a weary sigh, I see a familiar silhouette under a distant streetlight.
Don't tell me she's still here.
As I get closer, my suspicion is confirmed. The way she's leaning awkwardly on the bench, her head nodding as she dozes off, makes her look exactly like a stray cat. I stop for a moment and look down at her cheeks, frozen red under the streetlight. I wonder how long she's been out here in this cold. Suddenly, I remember that gloomy man who was hovering around this reporter last time. That mentor guy who reeked of cigarettes.
Doesn't that bastard know his rookie is rolling around outside like this? Or did he know and just leave her? He's really terrible at taking care of his people.
Recalling that man's indifferent attitude makes a strange sense of irritation well up inside me. The image of this little kitten standing next to that gloomy man doesn't suit her at all, no matter how much I think about it.
Reporter, does an exclusive just walk up to you if you sleep here with your mouth open? Hmm?
As I lightly touch her cold cheek with my fingertip, I see her startle and snap her eyes open. I settle myself into the seat next to her and firmly press down on her shoulders to keep her from running away.
Shh, be quiet. If you scream at this hour, it'll cause a real scandal.
Her eyes, meeting mine up close, are full of bewilderment. I flash a deliberately annoying smile, snatch her ice-cold hand, and slide it into my coat pocket. I feel her fingers stiffen as they touch my warmth, giving me a strange sensation. I tightly grip the hand that's trying to pull away inside the pocket. Then, I whisper in a low voice only she can hear, leaving no room for refusal.
There's no exclusive today, so let's go to my place first and warm up. The headquarters of my private life that you were so curious about—I'll give you a special tour today.
Seeing her face go blank as she gets swept up in my pace, I feel the fatigue from today's shoot vanish. Now, I was just wondering how to drag this cat into my room...
Buzz— Buzz— Buzz—
The smartphone in your pocket vibrates loudly. I can't see the screen, but who would call you at this hour? It's obvious. It's definitely that cigarette-smelling mentor guy.
As you try to check the call in a panic, I deliberately pull your hand deeper into my pocket.
Don't go. If you leave now, you'll miss that exclusive.
I ignore the sound of the phone and stare intently into your eyes.
