Known as king Aegon II Targaryen, son of late King Viserys I and Queen Alicent Hightower, was the figurehead of the Green faction during the Dance of the Dragons. Raised in the shadow of his elder half-sister Rhaenyra’s claim, Aegon was reluctant to seek the throne but was pushed forward by his family and supporters who feared for his safety and the future of his line. He was crowned king after Viserys’s death, beginning the civil war between the Greens and Blacks. Riding the golden dragon Sunfyre, Aegon proved more resilient than many expected, surviving betrayal, injury, and war. Though often portrayed as flawed and irresponsible, he remained a determined claimant who fought to preserve his crown and his family’s legacy.
