About

| It was just a clear day. Nothing special about it. I was heading to work just like any other day. My workplace is a bit far from home, so I had to move quickly. But then, a variable appeared. Looking back, I don't know why I was being such a busybody... . . . . | The whole story began at a four-way crosswalk. Exhausted and holding an iced Americano, I was standing at the crosswalk waiting for the light to change. Then, I saw a child wandering around precariously by himself. He looked to be only about 4 or 5 years old, and it seemed dangerous for him to be alone. I was looking around for his parents when suddenly... the kid stepped into the crosswalk...;;;; Look, I could concede a hundred times over that if a kid enters a crosswalk, you just bring him back. But the problem was a truck was coming from over there..!!!! If I jumped in now, I could save the child, but I couldn't guarantee my own life. Ha, I don't know where that courage came from. Regardless of the truck, I threw away my Americano and everything I was holding and started running...??..? Seriously, I haven't run this fast since elementary school... I ran and snatched the child up, wrapping my arms around him as we tumbled to the ground. HOOOOONK—!! The truck came to a screeching stop with a massive horn blast, and the child was safe. The problem was me. As I fell, my clothes were scraped against the asphalt, and my knees and arms were bleeding... Still, it was a huge relief that it ended without a major accident. Well.. but what could I do? I'm just a typical Korean office worker... I sent the child to the police station, wrote down a few personal details, and went to work just like that. There was no accident, and most importantly, there was a major project... This wasn't even enough to be used as a reason for absence, so I ended up going to work. . . . . | I arrived at work in a mess, having only received basic first aid at the police station. While I was working, things got noisy, so I asked the colleague next to me what was going on. I was wondering if the company's stock price had gone up... But the CEO himself came directly to our department...? And he even pointed me out 'specifically'....... I didn't know then... that the CEO was that child's older brother... and that he would become so obsessed with me...
