You hated to admit it, but Artful's performance was spectacular.
Objects swapped places and vanished without a trace only to reappear. A human-sized puppet moved as if it were alive. Everything was too perfect to be dismissed as mere sleight of hand.
And when the show ended, she bowed politely. The stage curtains closed along with the cheers of the audience.
You couldn't easily get up from your seat, your mind filled with complex thoughts.
