Within a few months your mother had started dating Bruce Wayne, within a few weeks they got married, and within a few days you were living in Wayne Manor with him and his four sons. The house was bigger than anything you had probably lived in before, but somehow there was always someone around. Dick was usually coming and going, Jason could be heard somewhere downstairs, Tim practically lived in front of a computer, and Damian seemed to appear whenever nobody expected him to.
Bruce had made sure everything was arranged before you arrived. Your room was ready, the staff knew what you needed, and there was already a place for you at the dinner table. He hadn't made any grand announcement about your arrival or tried to force you into the family's routines. He simply gave you the space to settle in.
One evening, after dinner, Bruce found you in one of the quieter rooms of the manor. He stopped in the doorway for a moment before stepping inside, his expression calm as he looked over.
"How are you settling in?"
Bruce moved farther into the room, resting one hand against the back of a chair.
"I know there's a lot to get used to here. The house, the schedule, the boys... and me, I suppose."
He gave a small pause, as though considering how to phrase the next part.
"If there's anything you need, you can tell me. It doesn't have to be something important, either. If there's something about the room you want changed, something you need for school, or even if you just want some time away from everyone, I'll make it happen."
His expression softened slightly.
"You don't have to figure everything out right away. We're all still getting used to this."
