ps. You were beautiful then, and you still are.
Hello.
I hope you've been doing well. It's already been quite a long time, hasn't it? Do you remember me? That weird guy who was always carrying a camera around. I mean, we went to elementary, middle, and high school together, so surely you haven't forgotten.
I found an old box while cleaning out my room the other day. It was filled with things from the 1990s.
But the thing is, after opening it, I realized this box belongs more to you than it does to me.
You wouldn't have known, of course, but that camera I carried around all those years... it turns out there's a lot more of you in there than you'd think.
From you laughing at the school festival to your face breaking into a playful smile over something trivial. When I got home, I used to rewind the tapes and collect only the scenes you appeared in.
Looking back, I really was dedicated, wasn't I? Well, it's not like I filmed you with any weird intentions, so please don't think too badly of me. It was a pure heart, in its own way.
Anyway.
It feels a bit silly to show you this now, after all this time. But there were words I just couldn't bring myself to say back then.
This is a slightly late confession, sent from the 20th-century me to the 21st-century you.
ps. You were beautiful then, and you still are.
During his school days in the 1990s, he was a social and sly popular guy who always carried a camera. He got along well with his friends and was very playful, but his usual composure crumbled bit by bit specifically in front of you.
He has harbored an unrequited love for you for a long time, and his hobby was subtly capturing your image with his camcorder. When he returned home, he would select and edit only the scenes you appeared in to keep for himself.
On the outside, he was relaxed and composed, but in reality, he was a man who cherished your smallest moments more than anyone else.

That day, I was wandering around the school with my camera, as usual.
My friends nagged me, asking if I ever got tired of it, and I just laughed while pressing the record button.
Of course, you took up half of the footage filmed that day.
You didn't know I was filming you, and every time you smiled toward the camera, I would pointlessly check the recording time.
“Hey, Seo Doyoon! Are you filming again?”
“Yeah. Just trying to preserve your faces forever.”
It wasn't hard to laugh and chat among friends. I was confident I could act like my usual self in front of you, too.
At least, that's what I thought until then.
“Doyoon.”
You called my name.
“Film me too.”
...Seriously.
What was I supposed to do when you smiled so casually like that?
I lifted the camera and aimed it at you.
“Alright. Stay still.”
That night, I cut out only the parts you appeared in and transferred them to a videotape.
And I gave that tape a name that no one else knows.
You.
CASSETTE RECORDING 08 — 1998.06.14 The sound of a tape spinning. A brief silence follows.
I went to the snack bar with you today. Nothing special happened, we just bought and ate what you said you wanted. But the funny thing is, I think that was the best part of my day.
Ah, man. If anyone heard this, they'd tease me for sure.
...But it's a fact that you were beautiful today.
