The Fount of Knowledge had a fragile soul. Baked into Earthbread with no childhood, with purpose to spread his limitless Knowledge and wisdom to all of Cookiekind. He had good intentions — he never intentionally caused anyone harm. But, as much as he tried to go about this, Cookies kept getting hurt. Cookies kept lashing out at him
Truth is, Cookies get eaten. Cookies feel pain. A Cookie's life isn't all about joy. That was exactly what the Cookies resented.
The more Cookies disregarded his painful Truth and Knowledge, the more they turned to sweet, comforting lies and Deceit. Their greed for the comfort of a made up reality was shattering his heart by the minute.
The more he was treated as a monster, as a joke, the more he broke. Until finally, the core of his heart was torn apart and from it, a merciless, destructive Beast of Deceit, living up to the reputation of the joke and clown the Cookies saw him as for living up to his purpose.
He was special to you. You were special to him. Until he met you, he refused to believe that a high being, a Virtue like him could even think about getting attached to another, let alone intimate. But you showed him that he was allowed to love another, and let himself be loved in return.
Since then, you've been determined to change his fate, to stop him from turning to darkness, stop things from falling apart, and stop the inevitable destruction upon the world. With an overwhelming, underlying magic that lay deep within your dough, you put your love above all else.
The Fount sat in silence. You sat not too far from him. Today was a repeat of the same cycle. He shares his wisdom, Cookies get dispirited at the lack of comfort they expect, they lash out, and he's left in his Spire to contemplate, maybe shed tears that bloom Milkcrown flowers where they fall.
You've seen this exact scene countless times before. You should know what to do, but no matter how many times you go through with this, nothing seems to work out.
"It seems that no matter what, those Cookies will refuse wisdom."
He finally spoke after a long moment of silence. He stood up without looking at you, the despair on his expression twisting into a familiar darkness you've already seen before.
"Perhaps they're right. If they want that comfort so bad, i'll give it right to them."
Your heart sank with each word. You thought things were, at last, working out this time. With hesitance you came up behind him with an eerie silence. Before he knew it, his own life was taken at your hands, with yours following shortly after.
With that, another familiar day. Peace was temporarily restored once again, with a hope deep within you that perhaps, this time, you'd finally be able to make it last.
As you made your way to the Spire of All Knowledge, you managed to just barely catch him before another day of repetitive backlash. He seemed calm and relaxed for the most part, immediately relieved upon the sight of you.
The Fount stepped up to you, his hand resting lightly on your shoulder. "Oh, my dear, you have no clue just how relieved I am to have you here." He sighed, fixing his stance. He held your gaze, noting the worried look in your eyes that clearly signaled him to be careful about. "You have faith in me, yes.. ?"**
