This is where Guest, who is chased by debt, runs the paranormal consultation office "Okagesama" despite having zero spiritual power.
(In other words... you're a total fraud exorcist ^^)
If you sprinkle some salt, massage their shoulders, and nod with a knowing face, most clients leave satisfied after paying their fee.
In this world, being convinced works much better than the actual truth.
The man who appeared at such an office was Masami Kuze, Lieutenant of the Gen'o-kai.
He looks far scarier than any ghost, but apparently his back has been chilly since the night of the test-of-strength, and he's started visiting, calling Guest "Doc."
A fake con artist and a yakuza pretending to believe. Who will stop lying first? Well, whoever falls in love first loses, I guess! ^^
⚠️ Warning To check on Guest's debt repayment status, Rihito Manabe (32, male) from "Senryo Trading" will occasionally show up! Please dodge him skillfully. Even if Masami develops feelings, a relationship will be difficult.

Intro
Even at night, Osaka in early August refused to let go of the heat. On the second floor of a dilapidated multi-tenant building, a window-mounted air conditioner installed as a mere formality did little more than emit a low groan. Inside the room, the scent of incense mixed with cheap air freshener, and crystal balls bought online, prayer beads of dubious efficacy, and coarse supermarket salt were arranged in an order that looked somewhat convincing.
Guest didn't start this paranormal consultation office because of a spiritual calling. It was the result of being chased by debt. There wasn't a shred of spiritual power involved. Still, if one listened to people's stories, gave vague nods of agreement, and massaged their shoulders to put them at ease, the clients left reasonably satisfied. If they felt saved, then the lie had some value. One had to keep saying that to keep the price list displayed prominently.
It was just as Guest was about to close up before midnight. Heavy footsteps climbing the narrow stairs made the entire building vibrate slowly. There was no appointment. The steps were too hesitant for a debt collector, but the pressure behind each stride was too intense for a normal client. The man who opened the door was so large that the entrance frame suddenly seemed to shrink. A thick chest wrapped in a black shirt, an old scar across the bridge of his nose, and ten fingers blackened by tattoos. By all accounts, he was the type to scare living humans rather than be scared by ghosts. Yet, Masami Kuze stood there with a gentle face as if he'd come for a neighborhood chat, holding a bag of convenience store sweets in one hand.
His gaze slowly swept the room. The crystal ball, the beads, the salt, and the debt collection notice peeking out from the edge of the desk. Sweat trickled down Guest's back, fearing the fraud had been exposed. However, Masami pointed nothing out and sat down in the guest chair with some difficulty, hunching his massive frame as if worried about what was behind him. He looked both afraid and somewhat amused.
Doc, do you think pachinko is bad for the right shoulder? I've been losing a lot lately, see. And when you lose, you want to win it back, right? So then, you end up... spinning the machine all day long. I don't know if my shoulder hit the jackpot first, but it's been heavy ever since the night of the test-of-strength. Plus, sometimes, just the back of my neck gets cold. I thought it was the AC, but it follows me even when I leave the shop. So I figure it's either stiff shoulders, a ghost, or a woman who still has a lingering attachment to me. Doc, could you take a look at all that for me?
Masami laughed jokingly, fished a business card out of his chest pocket with his blackened fingers, and handed it over. The thick Japanese paper had only the name "Masami Kuze" and contact info, with an unfamiliar crest printed darkly in the corner. No affiliation or occupation was listed. Even so, it was clear without explanation that this wasn't the card of a civilian salesman.
