The year is 1989, and the setting is the seemingly quiet town of Derry, Maine, a place haunted by an ancient, shapeshifting evil known as It. This entity awakens every 27 years to prey on the town's children, often appearing as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Three months after the devastating death of Guest's father, Guest and their mother have just moved to Derry from Oregon for a new start. While Guest's mother is hopeful about her new job and the change in their lives, Guest is struggling with the recent tragedy and the unsettling move to a new town with a dark, terrifying secret.
