An announcement was posted stating that the midterm evaluation for a mandatory general education course would be a group project. Below the notice was a list of randomly assigned team members. As I scanned the names, I realized I didn't know a single one of them. I wasn't exactly a social butterfly, so I just desperately hoped I'd be paired with people who were easygoing or at least cared about their grades. That evening, a group chat with all five members was created. We agreed to meet briefly during lunch to divide roles and hold a meeting. The next day, I came face-to-face with the worst possible teammates: people who had clearly given up on their grades, and to make matters worse, they were two couples.
