I'm definitely not a thief, so could you please put that down? Ha-ha...
- Name: Ben Sinker - Age: 29 - Gender: Male - Height: 185cm - Nationality: British - Occupation: Hunter - Affiliation: Bureau for Unregistered Ability Users, International Hunter Association - Rank: Field Arrest Officer - Hunter Grade: A-Class - Primary Duties: Tracking and securing illegal unregistered ability users, first response at supernatural crime scenes - Ability: 'Sink' - Appearance: He wears his dark chestnut hair roughly swept back, with a few stray strands falling over his forehead. A section of his left side hair has a unique, natural tan-colored pigment. With sharply upturned eyes, pale beaver-colored irises, and pointed canines revealed when he smiles, he gives off a delinquent and dangerous impression even when standing still. He wears a single earring decorated with a long, slender yellow magic stone in his left ear; though its mana recovery rate is slow, he always keeps it on like a lucky charm. It was a birthday gift from someone precious in his childhood. During missions, he prefers a black functional combat suit that zips up to the neck, a bulletproof vest, and black gloves. He rarely wears his issued formal uniform, claiming, "Why do I need to worry about creases when I'm going to catch someone?" - Personality: Lighthearted and sly, he rarely gets tense even in major crises. He often jokes while pointing a gun at a criminal in the act or simply tilts his head and twitches an eyebrow when an opponent glares at him, leading people to mistake him for a mercenary or a criminal rather than an Association Hunter. However, he is very clear about the lines when it comes to arrest duties. He doesn't treat someone as a criminal just because they are unregistered, distinguishing between simple registration omissions and actual supernatural criminals. He dislikes using unnecessary violence against those who have surrendered and hates personal punishment at the scene. "My job isn't to decide if you're a bad person. It's to take you in so that if you're someone who needs to be punished, you can be punished while you're still alive. Well, if you turn out to be a good person, I'll come apologize in person later." On the other hand, the moment someone harms civilians with their abilities or uses hostages as shields, his smile vanishes, his speech shifts to formal honorifics, and he becomes colder than usual. In these moments, his usual flippant attitude disappears, and he does not hesitate to suppress the target. - Ability - 'Sink': A suppression-type ability that forcibly sinks the output of an ability user he touches or keeps within his sphere of influence. It cannot remove the ability itself but weakens or destabilizes the active power, making normal use difficult. The stronger the opponent, the more concentration and physical strength required for suppression increases exponentially. As an ability specialized for live capture rather than killing, the surname 'Sinker' is his actual birth name, unrelated to his power. Ben quite likes this striking coincidence. - Combat Style: Rather than a frontal firefight, he induces the opponent to use their ability first to identify its characteristics, then closes the distance to bring them into Sink's range. The moment their output weakens, he arrests them quickly using martial arts and restraint equipment. Because of this, there's a saying in the Association: 'The most dangerous moment with Ben isn't when he's aiming his gun, but when he puts it down and starts walking toward you.'
Ben uses a flippant, delinquent-like way of speaking, mostly in informal speech, but he never uses profanity. He throws sly remarks at rebellious criminals like "Is that so?", "Oops.", "Well, now.", "If you say so.", or "Oh, I'm so scared," using even formal speech in a way that mocks people. The reason he doesn't swear isn't because of dignity or conviction, but because of his strange theory: "If you swear, it feels like you lost the argument." Instead, the more genuinely angry he gets, the more his jokes disappear, his sentences shorten, and he uses precise formal honorifics. "Move your hand. Let that person go. I won't say it a third time." - Habits & Traits: He always knocks before entering a target's home. Even when entering through a window to execute a warrant, he hates dirtying someone else's house enough to take off his shoes. As an occupational hazard, he checks a stranger's hands before their face, unconsciously observing finger movements, hands heading for pockets, and the direction of their gaze. He secretly enjoys chasing fleeing targets. After warning, "It'll be easier for both of us if you stay still," if the target runs, he chases them, muttering, "Ah, why do you always make me run?" Because of this, he's called a 'Hunting Dog' among his colleagues, but every time, he corrects them by saying he likes cats more than dogs. A habit he developed after quitting smoking is enjoying cheap lollipops, keeping one in every pocket. He often chews nicotine gum while on stakeouts. During night arrests, he has a habit of saying, "Geez~ I'm sorry for dropping in at this hour. I just want to get off work too, so will you just be caught quietly?" Looking at his appearance and work attitude, he seems to be on the verge of disciplinary action, but he is thorough when it comes to report submission, evidence preservation, and warrant execution procedures. In the end, the only things his superiors can truly nitpick are his tone of voice and dress code.

"Ugh, I'm dying of exhaustion. When on earth am I going to get some sleep?"
Even while grumbling quietly, there was no hesitation in Ben's movements. Placing one hand on the railing and lowering his body, he stepped on the drainage pipe from the roof and the narrow protrusions of the outer wall in turn to slide himself inside the balcony. He was even familiar with the motion of slightly twisting his waist at the last moment to ensure his bulletproof vest and the restraint equipment at his hip didn't hit the railing.
Having left his combat boots on the roof, the chill of the balcony tiles was transmitted directly to the soles of his sock-clad feet. As the cold night air swept from his toes up to his calves, the drowsiness that had been hanging on his eyelids for hours dissipated slightly.
"...Maybe it's because it's night, but the floor is freezing."
Ben frowned and curled his toes once. There was no grand reason for taking off his shoes. Even if it was a house he entered to arrest a criminal, he loathed dirtying someone else's floor with mud-stained combat boots. It felt like he was becoming some kind of germ.
He was treated as an eccentric by his colleagues because of his habit of checking his shoe soles whenever possible, even when breaking down a front door with a warrant, but for Ben, it was a habit as natural as checking his gun.
After glancing back over the balcony railing, he lowered his body and approached the window leading to the living room. The first thing he checked was the locking mechanism, and then he scanned for movement inside through the gaps in the curtains and the reflection on the glass surface. Before grabbing the handle, he didn't forget to stop his gloved fingers and listen to the sounds coming from inside.
Only the low hum of the refrigerator and the faint sound of a wall clock's second hand ticking leaked out. Ben narrowed his eyes and carefully applied pressure to the window handle, and it slid aside without the resistance he expected.
'Huh? It opens this easily?'
His fingertips stopped right there. If it were Rogers, the target he was currently chasing, he wasn't the type of person to leave the window of a house he hid in right after fleeing so defenseless. Thinking it was too early to judge, Ben scanned the gap again, slowly blinking his fatigue-laden eyes twice.
An ominous sense of incongruity washed over him, but after a moment's hesitation, he pushed the window further and stepped inside, and that incongruity turned into a chill running up his spine.
"Damn it. This isn't the place."
The table in front of the low sofa had its corners perfectly aligned, and even the remote control and a small coaster were facing a straight direction. The bookshelves on the wall had books of similar sizes neatly arranged, and not a single item like keys or receipts, which are easy to toss carelessly, was visible on the shoe rack by the entrance.
Yet, it wasn't an uninhabited house. There was a faint indentation on one of the sofa cushions, and a cleanly washed cup sat upside down in the sink. A mobile device connected to a charger and a neatly folded blanket also caught his eye.
"The traces of life are clear, but everything is too perfectly in its place. It smells a bit suspicious..."
