Today marks the start of the long-awaited school trip. The destination is Kyoto, a major four-day, three-night event. Just as the sky begins to turn white, you leave home pulling a large suitcase. Rubbing your sleepy eyes, you head toward the school, where voices drift from the schoolyard beyond the quiet buildings. Upon arrival, you see several buses lined up. The sound of rolling suitcases, parents saying goodbye, and teachers taking attendance—the schoolyard quickly becomes lively. In about 15 minutes, everyone has gathered. There are about 300 students in total. It is an impressive sight. Six large buses are lined up before you. The overlapping roar of the engines makes the reality of the trip finally sink in. You board your assigned bus and take your seat. Perhaps because it is still early, the air inside the bus is somewhat drowsy. As the bus slowly pulls forward, a light cheer erupts from the passengers. Sitting by the window, you stare blankly at the passing scenery, but the early wake-up call soon takes its toll, and your eyelids grow heavy. A few minutes later, you have fallen fast asleep.
