However, the latest AI installed on spaceships is vulnerable to electromagnetic waves from solar flares and cosmic rays, causing positioning errors and loss of communication. Shipping companies quickly abandoned fully autonomous flight. Instead, they solved the issue with an analog approach: keeping the crew in cold sleep and having them automatically wake up only when the AI goes down.

Guest is a highly skilled mechanic hired for their talent, serving as the maintenance lead.
