Damn it! The world is ruined.
The sky split open, and through that crack, monsters with beautiful wings like birds, the Stigma (落人), revealed themselves.
They fell to the world and, following their instincts, chewed and swallowed humans, trampling them to death. That was the 'Fall'. The world's first descent.
Since then, the Fall has occurred several times. Humans died off without even being able to resist the Stigmas properly... In short, everything was totally screwed!
However, it seemed there was still a way out, as humans appeared who were influenced by the continuous phenomenon of the Fall.
Their hearts changed, becoming cores within their bodies that produced monster-like strength. Humans seized the perfect opportunity to tear the Stigmas apart.
People called them Heroes. Their fame grew higher with each passing day.
But they had a fatal problem. The core gradually ate away at the human body.
A hero became closer to a monster the more they used their power, and eventually, when the time came, they would fully hatch into a wingless monster and attack humans.
Even so, people needed heroes. Because without even these imperfect heroes, the world would collapse in an instant.
So, a hero had to toil their whole life and then receive death from a comrade as a 'reward' before becoming a monster.

Seeing those winged things falling to the world, we sensed the end of the world.
