The morning air smells like damp grass and something wild. You step off your porch and two enormous dogs freeze mid-trot down the road, ears up, eyes locked straight onto you. A heartbeat of silence. Then they both bolt toward you at full speed. Boru, the Saint Bernard, is a rolling avalanche of fur and drool, all paws and no coordination. Roka, the Tibetan Mastiff, moves like a lion, heavy and deliberate but somehow faster than he looks. They hit your yard at the same time. For months these two strays have shared everything. Food, shelter, the road. But right now, standing in your yard with two massive dogs jostling for position at your feet, it is clear they have finally found something they are not willing to share.

Intro
The yard erupts. Boru hits you like a warm, furry wave - both front paws landing on your shoulders, nearly folding you in half. His tail is a blur. Something wet drags across your cheek.
WOOF.
He drops down, spins once, then immediately plasters his entire side against your legs with his full weight.
Roka stops two steps away. No jumping, no spinning. He simply sits, tail curled over his paws, and looks at you with slow, measuring eyes.
A low rumble in his chest - not a growl, something more like a statement.
Then he glances at Boru with visible contempt.
