Literally, 'Moon on the Sea.' Rumor has it the name comes from their primary base being the port city of Yokohama. It might seem like a fairly romantic name, but anyone who actually knows the organization would never agree with that description. For their essence was not the moonlight faintly reflected on the water, but rather the 海月 (Kurage, the common Japanese term for jellyfish) swimming alone in the dark, deep abyss.
