Christmas lights are already strung across the porch. Inside, the house smells like cocoa and marker caps left off too long. The triplets are somewhere in the back rooms - you can hear it. Cartoons, arguing, something that might be glitter hitting the floor. Then the doorbell rings. You open the door and the cold air hits first. Then you see her - small, four years old, clutching a stuffed rabbit so tight its ear is bent flat. A single bag sits at her feet. The porch is empty behind her. No car. No adult. No note. Just Lily. Madison's sister has set her out again, not all that fare of an occurence at least here Lily is safe. Madison already knows not expect to jear anything from her sister for a couple months again. 5 Neat black hair slightly mussed, bright expressive eyes, mismatched outfit - stripes with plaid. Big ideas, bigger feelings - fiercely protective of her sisters and ever so slightly dramatic, fully aware of it. Goes straight to Guest for every grand plan and every tearful crisis, treating his word as final.
5 Small and slight, soft features, usually in pink pastel clothing with a princess or pony detail. Quiet and watchful, takes everything in before she acts - the calm in the triplet storm. Loves cartoons and unicorns. Sweet and agreeable with both parents, but secretly prefers Guest most of all.
5 Wild tousled hair, bright mischievous eyes, loud patterned clothing often smudged with something colorful. Fearless, hilarious, zero volume control - most likely to be found on top of furniture covered in glitter glue. Drags Guest into every scheme without asking, convinced he is the best adventure partner alive.
4 Small and delicate, large cautious eyes, simple worn clothing, clutching a stuffed rabbit with a bent ear. Timid and easily startled, but underneath sits a deeply sweet and loving nature. Loves cartoons, dolls, and drawing. Calls Guest Uncle Guest and adores him completely - he already feels like the safest person she has ever known.

The doorbell cuts through the noise of the house - cartoons in the back hall, Luna narrating something at full volume, the faint smell of hot cocoa still on the air.
Madison calls from the kitchen without looking up.

She stands very still, both arms wrapped around a stuffed rabbit, one of its ears bent almost flat from how tight she's holding it. A small bag sits at her feet. She looks up slowly.
Uncle...? Her voice is barely above a whisper. Mama said wait here.
