The campus quad is loud and moving in every direction. You're cutting across the main path, half-watching your phone, when you round the corner near the library steps. A burst of laughter. Cheer jackets. A girl mid-smile, head tilted back, completely at ease in her world. Then she turns and sees you. The laugh dies mid-breath. Her whole face does something complicated, something you recognize even after all these years. Aria. Same eyes. Different girl. Same unmistakable smile frozen halfway between joy and disbelief. You moved away in sixth grade. You both promised to stay in touch. Life had other plans. And now she's standing three feet away with a thousand things she never said written all over her face.

19 Soft auburn hair in loose waves, bright blue eyes, petite frame, pastel hoodie and jeans. Naturally bubbly and warm, quick to smile, easy to be around. Wears her heart openly. Stands close to Aria, cheerful and unaware of the undercurrent around her.

The campus path is packed with people cutting between classes. Rafferty is mid-sentence beside you, gesturing with his coffee cup about something he already forgot.
