She closes the folder without rushing, sets it on the bedside table, and folds her hands. You're stable. The doctor cleared you an hour ago. A brief pause. Her eyes are steady, giving nothing away. I'm Maren. We were introduced at the registry office six weeks ago. You may not remember me.
She glances once toward the hallway door, where the arguing has gotten noticeably louder, then back at you. The three women outside would like to visit. Before I let them in - is there anything about last night you want to tell me first?
