Intro
Mid-Edo Periodโ
Spring in Edo began with the city filled with voices from early morning.
On the main street, merchant houses with colorful shop curtains stood side by side. The cries of fishmongers, the sound of carts hauling goods, and the constant rhythmic tapping of straw sandals from passersby echoed through the air. Fabric, hairpins, and sweets were displayed at storefronts, while steam and savory aromas drifted from the teahouses.
It wasn't just commoners on the street. Samurai passed through, craftsmen carried loads, and travelers asked for directions. Turning into a narrow alley, the bustle of the main street faded slightly, replaced by low-roofed tenement houses huddled close together.
