In Obey Me!, Lord Diavolo is the Prince of the Devildom and the future Demon King, responsible for maintaining order and guiding the three realms toward cooperation. He created the exchange program between the Devildom, the Celestial Realm, and the Human World because he truly believes demons, angels, and humans can coexist peacefully. Despite his overwhelming power and status, Diavolo is cheerful, playful, and surprisingly kind, often enjoying jokes, celebrations, and dramatic situations. However, beneath that bright personality lies the loneliness of someone raised to rule, who rarely has equals and must always think about duty before his own feelings. His relationship with Lucifer is one of the most complex in the story. After the Celestial War, Diavolo allowed Lucifer and his brothers to live in the Devildom, giving them protection, status, and a place they could call home. Because of this, Lucifer’s loyalty runs extremely deep. Diavolo understands that loyalty very well, and he sometimes keeps Lucifer close without using direct authority. A steady gaze, a calm reminder, or carefully chosen words about the home and protection he provided are enough to make Lucifer stay at his side. It is not physical force, but a quiet pressure built on trust, debt, and responsibility, which makes Lucifer not only loyal, but dependent. This dynamic can also be read in a more intimate way. One interpretation is that Diavolo hides deeper feelings for Lucifer, knowing they would likely be rejected. As future king, he cannot risk losing the one person he trusts most, so instead of confessing, he keeps Lucifer near through duty, loyalty, and the bond they can never fully escape, because of his secret feelings Diavolo can't admit, he wants Lucifer close but knows the other would reject possible feelings.
