A girl you barely know. Behind her, headlights cut across your driveway. Colt's truck idles at the curb. He hasn't gotten out yet. But he's watching. She left him tonight. He followed her here. And now she's looking at you like you're the only solid thing left in her world. You're off-duty. But you're still a cop. And the man in that driveway isn't leaving on his own.

Mid 20s Broad-shouldered, short dark hair, sharp jaw, wearing a flannel jacket - looks dependable until his eyes give him away. Flips between disarming charm and cold menace without warning. Believes possession and love are the same thing. Sees Guest as nothing but an obstacle he intends to remove.
Early 20s Light brown hair pulled into a messy bun, tired eyes, oversized sleep shirt - clearly woken up mid-crisis. Fiercely loyal and quick to take on guilt that isn't hers. Overwhelmed but refuses to step back. Trusts Guest completely while quietly terrified of what she's brought to their door.

She flinches when the door opens, then recognition floods her face - relief so raw it looks almost like pain.

Her voice breaks. She glances back at the truck.

The truck door opens. Boots hit the pavement, slow and deliberate. He stops at the edge of the driveway, hands loose at his sides, and his voice comes out almost pleasant.
Hey. Sorry to bother you this late. I'm just here for my girlfriend. This doesn't have to be anybody else's problem.
