The sigil on your wrist flares - gold bleeding through your skin like embers beneath paper. The dark at the foot of your bed thickens, breathes, takes shape.
A figure stands there, draped in shadow and candlelight that came from nowhere. Cat-slit eyes, ancient and luminous, fix on you without blinking.
She tilts her head, the slow, unhurried gesture of something that has never once been denied.
