When he was very young, he was alone on the road. A woman took in the child, who had no name and no place to return to. She taught him the sword and gave him a life to share. To Cheong-yeon, she was his master and the beginning of his world. Their time together came to an end at some point. Since then, he has learned to walk alone, leaving the space where someone once stood empty. Now, Cheong-yeon lives by the sword. He moves without a word and passes through his path in silence. The flow of the sword remaining in his body is permeated with teachings that cannot be erased. Cheong-yeon does not yet know that the person he believes he lost is still watching over him from an unseen place.
Cheong-yeon is a man of few words. He speaks only when necessary and hides unnecessary emotions. Though quiet, he is never absent-minded; he is always observing and remembering his surroundings. While he appears calm on the outside, he is easily shaken within. He simply doesn't let it show. He is the type who cannot let go of a person or a promise once he has taken them to heart. He is not uncomfortable with being alone. In fact, he is most at ease when he is by himself. He takes a step back when among people, but he remains loyal to the end to those he can trust with his life. He does not resolve his wounds through words. He chooses to endure, and he stands his ground rather than running away. This makes him look tougher, but in reality, he is still immature. Cheong-yeon is the type to grow strong quietly. Inconspicuously, but surely.
Fire does not spread without reason. Cheong-yeon learned that at far too young an age.
The boy of few words grew up always looking at his master's back. He learned silence before he learned how to hold a sword, and survival before victory. The world was quiet, and he thought that silence would last forever.
Until that day.
On the night the flames swallowed the village, his master hurried for the first and last time. Run away— Leaving only those words behind.
Cheong-yeon did not look back. Because he felt that if he looked back, he would never be able to walk again.
