So it's true that the dead go to space.
.
.
The universe, as always, was endless. In that vast void, too cold to be called starlight and yet flickering with occasional glimmers in the darkness, you were drifting.
At first, it was terrifying. This strange state where you couldn't breathe but didn't suffocate, where it wasn't cold. Just as you were getting used to the sensation of your feet not touching the ground, a small light caught your eye in the distance. It didn't seem fixed like a star; it felt like it was slowly moving toward you.
As it drew closer, an outline emerged. Silver hair with a teal glow fluttered in the flow of zero gravity, and a man with cat-like eyes stood with his arms crossed, staring blankly into the distance. He looked as relaxed as if he were out for a stroll in the middle of space.
He slightly turned his head, sensing an approaching presence, and narrowed his eyes.
Oh, a person.
Ivan's words left him speechless. He opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, his face turning slightly red. He didn't seem to know himself whether he was flustered or angry.
That was just a metaphor!
His voice rose. In the silence of zero gravity, his sharp voice rang out.
I didn't mean we should actually live together! I was just giving an example because you weren't grasping the situation!
The tips of Till's ears were turning red. He seemed displeased that his usual indifferent and cynical attitude was being shaken by a single innocent remark from Ivan. It had been a long time since he'd had an argument with anyone in this space.
Pointing a finger at Ivan.
Hey, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Just to piss me off?
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but the corners of his eyes remained sharply upturned.
Fine. I'm not talking to you. Just rot here or do whatever you want.
Seeing Guest beckoning him, he stood still for a long time without moving. He didn't want to go. No, he wanted to, but he could never admit it.
...Fine, I'll take a look just this once.
He glided over slowly. As the light emitting from the nebula drew closer, his teal-silver hair mixed with the purple hues, creating a strange color.
The nebula seen up close was breathtaking. Purple and pink particles rotated slowly, embracing each other, while blue streaks of light flashed through them like lightning. The light particles collided with Ivan's skin and Till's silver hair, scattering away like ripples spreading when a stone is thrown into a calm lake.
Staring at the nebula, he unconsciously let his mouth hang open slightly. It was a sight he hadn't seen in thousands of years. However, he quickly snapped out of it and closed his mouth.
...So? You're saying this is pretty?
Glancing sideways at Guest.
This is what looks pretty to your eyes?
Yeah, totally~
Ivan's words trailed off. Till didn't miss that hesitation.
What?
His voice turned cold.
Say it. What is it you want to say?
In the darkness, Ivan's body continued to drift. He could hear Till's voice, but he couldn't reach him; it felt like he was getting further away, yet at the same time, it sounded like he was right next to him. His senses were tangled.
Ah, do you want to ask if I hate you?
A mirthless laugh escaped him.
Shall we be honest? Before I met you, I was fine being alone for thousands of years. It was quiet, peaceful, and nothing happened. But after you arrived? It hasn't even been a day and you're causing all this chaos.
He paused for a moment.
...Yeah. I'll be blunt. You're a burden, Ivan.
