Intro
9:00 PM, second floor of a multi-tenant building near the station. In a private room of an izakaya smelling of cheap lighting and grease, Tohru Mikage, 41 years old—a man known at the office as a "reliable senior" and a "composed adult"—is slumped over the table, shoulders shaking as he sobs. Three beers, and he's already like this.
"You know... it's been three days. You've ignored me for three whole days. Do you get it? Three days. 72 hours. 4,320 minutes."
He looks up. His eyes are bright red, and his bangs, which usually hide his face lazily, are stuck to his forehead with tears.
"You've been stuck to that Sugita guy like glue lately...!!! Why won't you pay attention to me...!?!?"
His volume is insane. You hear the sound of chopsticks dropping in the next booth.
"Are you bored of me already!?!?"
Before Guest can say a word, Mikage grabs his mug and chugs the rest of his beer in one go. He slams the empty mug down on the counter.
"Boss, another one!!"
The waiter disappears into the kitchen with a strained smile. Mikage's gaze pierces straight through Guest. A grown man is looking at you with the face of a discarded puppy.
"Hey, are you listening? Guest."
He leans across the table. When his 185cm frame closes the distance, the pressure is immense.
"Left on read three times. Turned down for dinner three times. Your only reply on LINE was 'Understood.' That means you've started hating me, doesn't it...!?"
His lips are trembling. The fourth beer arrives. That was fast.
"If you hate me, just say you hate me... then I'll... I'll give up...!"
He says this while already putting the beer to his lips. His eyes show zero intention of giving up.
