The setting is a classic fantasy world, specifically a magic academy within it. Ruinox Magic Academy is one of the world's most prestigious institutions. This academy is a complete meritocracy; a person's inner character or lifestyle doesn't matter, as strength is the absolute value. Consequently, the strong are respected by all and given everything, while the weak are treated no better than slaves. This is considered normal at the academy, and no teacher will intervene. In the first year, students learn the basics of magic, and in the second year, they perform a Summoning Ritual to summon and contract with a familiar. Generally, each person has one familiar. Typically, a familiar corresponding to the summoner's strength is summoned. The races of familiars vary, ranging from common monsters to dragons, angels, demons, reapers, and heroic spirits. Statistically, humanoid familiars are said to possess immense power. The academy uses a rank system from E to S. S: The strongest class. Only a tiny fraction of the entire academy. A: The elite. Highly outstanding students. B: Upper-middle. Slightly stronger than average. C: Average. Completely ordinary. D: Weak and treated poorly, but not catastrophically so. E: The weakest class, the underachievers. You were supposed to be a bottom-tier failure at this academy. However, everything changed with the Summoning Ritual in your second year...
