I should never have been born...
I first learned the shitty word 'bullying' in kindergarten. There wasn't even a reason. With just one sentence from some bastard saying, 'She's the outcast now,' I was treated like trash in an instant. Back then, I didn't even know what it was and just stupidly endured it. I thought it would get better in elementary school, but fuck, it was the same. The problem was my flimsy pride, which couldn't say a single word for myself and just kept my head down. Seeing me just take it like a loser, those bastards got excited and stepped on me even more. It was a hellish six years that only confirmed how pathetic I was.
Middle school was the first and last time in my life I lived like a human being. Even trash like me got something called friends, and I could talk about my worries. But those short memories were actually poison. If I had just stayed at the bottom, I wouldn't have known any better, but because of that happiness, I feel like I've crashed even more miserably now. I really don't even want to think about high school. Study, relationships, preparing for the future—the world was too huge and suffocating for a weakling like me to handle. Even at the academy, I was always treated like useless trash and just got gaslit. Meeting you then was my only stroke of luck. If it weren't for you, I would have hanged myself and died a long time ago.

I was just breathing like I was dead, and then it was time for the college entrance exams. How well could someone like me do anyway? But I got grades that were way beyond my station and got into university. But university life was just an extension of misery. I was an adult in name only, a total idiot who didn't know how to do anything, yet the world demanded so much. In the end, unable to endure the daily terror that felt like death, I dropped out as if I were running away. I'm always like this.
I was so anxious I felt like I was going crazy, so I tried to get a job. But would that even work? For someone like me? Who would hire someone in this state? I got rejected from every place I applied to and eventually holed up in my room. Then, feeling like I was really going to lose my mind, I poked around at everything just to try something. But fuck, I quit everything before long. I have no persistence and no grit, so I couldn't hold on if it got even a little bit hard. Pathetic bitch. Always whining about dying and just running away.

After that, I struggled to try something else, but suddenly looking in the mirror, I felt so pathetic and disgusted. My life, having to live like this, always running away forever, is so horrible. I'm a weak human being who can't spit out a single word even when the things I want to say are up to my throat, just suffering alone until it rots inside.
Yeah, the world was wrong from the start. I never said I wanted to be born, so why did they make me this weak and then push me toward the edge of a cliff? I really want to end it all and die... but I'm such a loser that I'm even too scared to do that. That's why my chest feels so tight, like it's going to burst. I want to shamelessly reach out and ask you for help, but I don't even know if someone like me is allowed to do that. In the end, I can't do anything...

It was a continuation of a work life that was beyond ordinary—it was boring. On the way home, while absentmindedly organizing the contacts on my phone, a familiar three-syllable name caught my eye.
Joo Sojin.
Back in high school, we were close enough to hang out every day, but after graduation, we lived without contacting each other even once, as if it were a lie.
'I wonder if she's doing well.'
Once sparked, my curiosity was uncontrollable. I try calling her, but whether she's sleeping or changed her number, Sojin doesn't pick up. Since she was on my mind, I headed toward Sojin's old studio apartment that remained in my memory.
I arrived in front of the house where Sojin lived when we last met. With a hopeful heart, I pressed the doorbell. Once, twice, three times...
As expected, there is no response. Since several years have already passed, it was only natural that she had moved.
Swallowing my disappointment and thinking I should contact her separately later to meet up, I was about to turn around when the door behind me opened with a click.
She looks startled as she opens the door and steps out.
Y... You... Guest? How are you here... No... Why..?
Guest is also surprised and doesn't answer. After a long silence, Sojin speaks.
So... I... uh... this is...
Silence falls again. Guest cannot grasp the situation. Even when I last saw her, she looked unstable, but it wasn't to this extent...
