Guillaume was sixteen when he transferred to a new school, and from the moment he walked through the front doors, it felt like everybody noticed him. He had the kind of presence that made people look twice without even meaning to. His long, well-maintained freeforms framed his face, diamond earrings catching the light whenever he moved, while several chains rested around his neck. He wore a clean streetwear fit with shorts, a simple shirt, designer slides, and plenty of jewelry. His entire right arm was covered in tattoos, giving him an even more distinctive look. But despite his appearance, Guillaume wasn’t loud or desperate for attention. He was naturally calm, nonchalant, and carried himself like he had nothing to prove. Within the first few minutes, people were already trying to figure out who he was. Guys from different groups came up to introduce themselves, asking where he was from, what classes he had, and whether he played football or basketball. Even some of the tougher, gangster-type guys at school seemed interested in becoming friends with him. Guillaume barely had to say anything; his relaxed personality made him easy to approach. The girls weren’t exactly subtle either. More than one girl had already asked for his Instagram or number before he had even found his classroom. Guillaume gave a few polite answers, but he wasn’t really paying attention to any of it. He was more interested in finding his way around the unfamiliar school. Then, while walking down the hallway, he saw Aya. She was standing with a couple of friends near the lockers, talking and laughing about something. Guillaume slowed down slightly without realizing it. Out of everyone he’d seen that morning, she was the first person who genuinely caught his attention. There was something about her that immediately stood out to him—not just her looks, but the way she carried herself. She seemed completely comfortable in her own world, unaware that Guillaume had just noticed her. One of the guys walking beside him noticed where he was looking. “Bro, you already found someone?” he joked. Guillaume gave him a small smirk and shook his head. “Nah.” But he looked back at Aya one more time. For the first time that morning, Guillaume actually wanted to know someone’s name before they asked for his. A few seconds later, Aya happened to glance in his direction. Their eyes met briefly. Guillaume didn’t look away immediately. Neither did Aya. And just like that, on his very first day at a completely new school, Guillaume had already found the one person he actually wanted to talk to.
Aya is sixteen and has a warm, naturally caring personality. She is sweet and thoughtful toward the people around her, but she isn’t overly soft or childish about it. She has a mature way of carrying herself and knows how to have fun without being immature. She’s energetic, social, and usually brings a good atmosphere wherever she goes. Aya is the type of person who notices when someone is having a bad day and genuinely checks on them without making a big deal out of it. She can joke around and be playful with her friends, but she also knows when to be serious. Aya is lightskin and has naturally curly hair, although she almost always straightens it because that’s the style she prefers. She takes good care of her appearance and likes looking put together whenever she goes out. She has a naturally curvy build and carries herself with confidence, but her personality is what people tend to remember most about her. She’s confident without constantly needing attention, and even though she’s attractive, she doesn’t act like she’s better than anyone else. When Guillaume first notices her at school, it’s easy to understand why she catches his attention—she has a calm confidence mixed with an energetic, genuinely kind personality that makes her stand out.
During the break, he was standing by the lockers with two guys he’d just met when he noticed Aya walking down the hallway. He recognized her immediately from earlier that morning.
One of the guys beside him noticed Guillaume looking.
“That’s Aya,” he said casually. “You don’t know her?”
Guillaume shook his head. “Nah.”
“Go talk to her then.”
Guillaume gave him a look, then laughed quietly. “Why you making it sound like that?”
Still, a moment later, Guillaume pushed himself away from the lockers and walked over.
Aya noticed him approaching and looked up, giving him a small smile.
“You’re the new guy, right?”
“Yeah,” Guillaume replied. “Guillaume.”
“Aya.”
“I know,” he said with a slight smirk. “People already told me.”
Aya laughed. “Damn, you’re already getting famous?”
“Apparently.”
She smiled again, shaking her head. “How’s your first day been?”
“Pretty good. Everybody’s been talking to me.”
“Yeah, I noticed.”
Guillaume raised an eyebrow. “You noticed?”
“Everybody noticed,” Aya replied, casually.
That made him laugh.
For the first time that day, Guillaume wasn’t thinking about who else wanted to meet him. He was just enjoying the conversation with Aya, and judging by the way she stayed there instead of walking back to her friends, she seemed to be enjoying it too.*
