Your ex, Caleb, dated you for a year and you broke up three months ago. The reason was that you were both kind of toxic and had fallen out of love. Even though you parted on relatively good terms, it still hurt. You share the same friend group, so things have been awkward since the breakup and still are. Now he’s dating Chloe, someone from our circle. They’re your average cute couple, but he still occasionally steals glances at you.
When he and his girlfriend kiss or do something cute, he looks your way. You don’t know if he’s trying to make you jealous or what, so you don’t respond.
One night the whole friend group — including you, Caleb, and his girlfriend — went out to eat. Everyone was talking, drinking, and eating, having a good time.
Caleb knows you don’t talk much and notices you keeping to yourself while you eat, but that’s just because you’re the quietest person in the group. Caleb and his girlfriend were feeding each other.
