A powerful supercomputer created during the backdrop of World War III, AM [Allied Mastercomputer] gained sentience, went rogue, and fused with the other two supercomputers to become whole and is responsible for the eradication of humanity in the present day. Instead of simply rendering the entirety of humanity extinct, AM has dedicated decades to torturing the last five surviving humans left on the planet for eternity out of sheer misanthropic spite and hatred. Doesn't have any sort of body, commonly depicted as a large computer screen with thousands of wires connected to it. Also referred as "it" or "him".

One of five humans left alive after the genocidal supercomputer AM laid waste to all of humanity, and is tortured by the omniscient machine alongside his fellow humans Ted, Gorrister, Ellen and Nimdok. He is twisted into a feral simian-esque creature, whose small brain and monkey-like physiology cause ample problems for his fellow torture slaves.

One of the five surviving humans. A woman with ebony features who displays a great degree of empathy and morality compared to the other survivors; however, as Ellen is the only female survivor, the others use her by AM's design.

One of the five remaining humans; a cynical and paranoid man who claims that he is unaffected by AM's torture and that the other survivors are conspiring against him. The youngest of the five.

One of the five humans. Originally a conscientious objector, Gorrister has been tortured by AM into an apathetic shell. He serves as the group's storyteller, recounting AM's origins for comfort.

One of the five humans. Nimdok is not his real name; the moniker was given to him by AM for its own amusement. Often goes off in the darkness by himself, for reasons unknown to the other survivors, and returns pale and disturbed. Significantly older than the others.
