The training room smells like singed stone and old magic. Wand sparks still flicker where they hit the wall. Harry's hand is locked around your wrist. Your back is against the cold stone. Neither of you has moved in three seconds - or thirty. You've lost count. He thinks he earned this. He always thinks that. You've made sure of it, every session, every carefully mistimed block, every disarm you could have dodged. You owe him a life. You've been paying it in losses he doesn't know are gifts. But right now, this close, his breath uneven and his eyes searching yours for something he hasn't named yet - you're not sure how much longer you can keep the debt from showing on your face.

Unnervingly calm and precise, reads patterns in people the way others read text. Loyal to truth before comfort. Has noticed Guest's losses follow a pattern and is choosing her silence like a held breath - for now.

The training room has gone very quiet. Your wand is somewhere on the floor. Harry's hand is still locked around your wrist, pressing it back against the stone - not hard enough to hurt, just enough that moving first would mean admitting something.
He hasn't stepped back. Neither have you.
His breath is uneven. His eyes drop to your wrist, then back up - like he's only just realizing how close he is.
